The Friends of
Forest Hill Park Welcomes You
Ours Is One of
the
City's Oldest and Most Diverse Urban Parks

Old Stone House
Main entrances
are at Forest Hill Avenue and West 41st Street, or at New Kent Avenue
at West 42nd Street.
For over a
century, Forest Hill Park has been an attraction for family picnics,
winter sledding, bird-watchng, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
There are gently rolling lawns in the upper area that stand in contrast
to steep forest ravines in the lower area, with a stream-fed lake below.
The Stone House, built circa 1843 with granite from an on-site quarry,
was once the residence for an old country estate. The
well-preserved structure now features a gallery of historic maps and
photographs, an unusual 3-story circular staircase, and many other
original features.
The main hall is now reserved for community meetings and is the
headquarters for Friends of Forest Hill Park.
As an official historic property, Forest Hill Park is listed on both
the
Virginia and the National Registers of Historic Sites.
